Choose the Fluval Evo 52L if low entry cost and a compact footprint dominate. Choose the MiniReef 120 if you want a cabinet sump and control over the missing hardware. Choose the MAX NANO G2 XL if you value a cohesive included package more than the lowest initial price. None is universally best.

How the first-year ranges were built
We added a planning allowance for the missing hardware, RODI equipment, basic testing, rock, sand, salt, initial consumables and a contingency reserve. Livestock and electricity are excluded. Watch the architecture, not just the litres
The Evo and MAX NANO are rear-chamber all-in-one systems. The MiniReef puts equipment in a cabinet sump, creating more component flexibility but also more plumbing, setup and maintenance decisions. Read AIO vs sump before treating those designs as interchangeable.
Evidence and limitations
Specifications were checked against the Fluval Evo product page, Aqua One MiniReef page and Red Sea MAX NANO documentation. Price checks used Mill Race, Finest Aquatics and Essex Marine Aquatics. We did not physically test these systems, measure noise or verify long-term reliability.
